Paralympic Games begin Monday for track and field team
OTTAWA – The Canadian Track and Field team will take the world stage on Monday September 8 at the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing, China. The games officially kick off tomorrow (Saturday) September 6 with the opening ceremonies on CBC from 7:00pm (Check local listings for your area).
First to the stage
· Kyle Pettey of Brampton, ON compete in both the F34 Shot Put and Discus finals
· Jason Dunkerley of Ottawa, ON along with guide runner Greg Dailey of Toronto, ON will run in round 1 of the T12 800 metres
· Windsor, Ontario’s Stefanie Reid will race in round 1 of the T44 200 metres
· André Beaudoin of Montréal, QC and Dean Bergeron of St-Augustin-de Desmautes, QC in round 1 of the T52 200 metres
· Colin Mathieson of Winnipeg, MB and Jean-Paul Compaore of Sherbrooke, QC will race in the T54 400 metre rounds
· Ottawa, Ontario’s Jon Dunkerley and guide runner Sean Young in round 1 of the T11 100 metres
· Competing in the women’s T54 5000 metre final are Diane Roy of Hatley, QC and Tracey Ferguson of Holland Landing, ON
· In the men’s T54 5000 metres round 1 will be Josh Cassidy of Oakville, ON; Michel Filteau of St-Jean Baptiste, QC and Mark Ledo of Maple, ON
